1.There is no grave here to stand at. The ohel over Reb Yechiel Meir's kever was destroyed by the Germans, the matzevot were carted off to pave sidewalks, and whatever was still standing was cleared in the 1970s when a housing estate went up on part of the ground.
2.What you will find on ul. Gościnna, about a kilometre south-west of the market square, is the surveyed and marked cemetery plot — roughly 0.83 hectares. It was fenced and commemorated in September 2018, on the 130th anniversary of his petirah, and matzeva fragments recovered from a forest track in 2010 were brought back to the site.
3.The Gostynin Yizkor book describes the ohel standing at the front of the cemetery, visible from the Kutno road, with an unbroken procession of chassidim walking out to it every 21 Shevat and the grave covered over in kvitlach. That is the ground you are standing on, but the individual kever is not marked.
4.Sources disagree about whether any ohel was ever rebuilt here, so come expecting an open memorial site rather than a standing structure, and confirm the exact spot with the Gostynin town office or a local guide before you travel.
5.SURVEYED COORDINATES. The map point on this listing is the cemetery itself, measured on the ground by the ESJF survey — not a town centre. Where a kever is inside an ohel it will still need finding once you are through the gate, but the gate is now something you can navigate to.

Yahrzeit: כ״א שבט · 5648 / 1888

Born in Opoczno to Reb Yaakov Tzvi, he was a leading talmid of the Kotzker Rebbe — who counted him among the lamed-vav tzaddikim — and also of the Chiddushei HaRim of Ger and Reb Avraham Landau of Ciechanów; he led in Gostynin until his petirah in 1888 and told everyone who came to him to say Tehillim, which is how he got his name. A Find a Grave memorial (#120339501) placing him in the old cemetery in Tzfas is an error — he died and was buried in Gostynin.
