Who is buried here

Known kevarim

רבי יואל צבי ראטה

Rabbi Yoel Tzvi Roth

The Beis HaYotzer, rov of Khust after the Maharam Schick

שו״ת בית היוצר

Yahrzeit: כסלו · 5652 / 1891

Born about 1819. A talmid of the Maharam Ash and close to the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, he followed the Maharam Schick as rov of Khust and led its yeshiva. His teshuvos and drashos were printed by his grandson as Beis HaYotzer. Sources give the year of his petirah as both 1891 and 1892, and this listing does not pick between them.

רבי משה שיק

Rabbi Moshe Schick

The Maharam Schick, Rav of Khust

שו״ת מהר״ם שיק · מהר״ם שיק על תרי״ג מצוות · חידושי מהר״ם שיק על הש״ס · דרשות מהר״ם שיק

Yahrzeit: א׳ שבט · 5639 / 1879

Born 1807 in Brezova; a leading talmid of the Chasam Sofer in Pressburg and one of the foremost Hungarian poskim of his generation, he served as rav of Khust from 1861 until his death — not to be confused with the later Breslover R' Eliezer Shlomo Schick, who is buried in Yavne'el.
