1.Before you go, know who is here. The tzaddik in this ohel is Reb Menachem Mendel RUBIN of Linsk, niftar 1803, the father of the Ropshitzer Rebbe. He is widely mislabelled 'Menachem Mendel Horowitz of Rozwadów', which is wrong on both counts: Rozwadów is a different town about 140 km away with its own Horowitz rebbes, and Reb Menachem Mendel Horowitz of Linsk (1805-1868) is a different and later man.
2.The cemetery is one of the oldest in Poland — roughly three hectares on a wooded hillside beside the old synagogue, with some two thousand matzevos, the earliest from 1548. The oldest stones are in the northern part near the entrance gate.
3.It is a real climb over uneven, root-broken ground, and the ohel is not signposted from the road. Give yourself time and wear proper shoes; after rain the slope is slippery.
4.Confirm the exact position of the ohel locally before you set out — the town museum and the synagogue building at the foot of the hill can point you to it.
5.SURVEYED COORDINATES. The map point on this listing is the cemetery itself, measured on the ground by the ESJF survey — not a town centre. Where a kever is inside an ohel it will still need finding once you are through the gate, but the gate is now something you can navigate to.
