1.Resting place of Rabbi Meir of Premishlan, beloved for his simplicity, wit, and wonder-working.
2.TWO REB MEIRS OF PREMISHLAN, AND THE SIGN IN THE OLD CEMETERY IS NOT THIS ONE. The memorial marker on the old ground at 15 Shevchenko Street records the burial place of Reb Meir the Great of Peremyshlyany, who was niftar in 1773. This page is about Reb Meir'l, niftar 1850 — his descendant, and the one people travel for. Somebody who reads that sign and stops has found the wrong man.
3.THE OLD GROUND IS BUILT OVER. Private houses stand on it. Twenty-six matzevos survive, with further fragments turning up at the edge of the town, and the memorial marker is the only thing on the site that says what it was.
4.Where Reb Meir'l himself lies is not settled by anything found. The town's newer cemetery is the other candidate and its coordinate is below; ask in Peremyshlyany rather than assuming the marked ground is his.
5.TWO GROUNDS, AND THIS LISTING WILL NOT CHOOSE BETWEEN THEM. ESJF surveyed both — the old cemetery at 49.66672, 24.55668 and the newer one at 49.67008, 24.55120, about 0.5 kilometres apart. No source found says which of them holds the kever this page is about, so no single map point is published. Ask locally before setting out, and take both coordinates with you.
