1.THE OHEL HOLDS FATHER AND SON. The Avnei Nezer, and Reb Shmuel his son, the Shem MiShmuel, who was niftar in Otwock in Teves 5686 and brought here to be buried with him. People come for one and stand over both.
2.THE KEY IS AT SIERPNIOWA 6. The cemetery is on the same street, closed all round by a continuous fence with a locking gate, so there is no walking in — collect the key at number 6 first.
3.THE OHEL WAS REBUILT IN AUGUST 1993 and holds the Avnei Nezer together with his son Reb Shmuel, the Shem MiShmuel. Two generations of Sochatchov in one structure.
4.EXPECT ALMOST NO STONES. The ground runs to nearly three hectares and about ten matzevos remain, the oldest from 1810 — a third of the site is in reasonable order and the other two thirds hold only the occasional stone. The kehilla is documented here from 1564 and the last burial was in 1945.
5.What survives is granite, limestone, sandstone and fieldstone, inscribed in Hebrew, Yiddish and Polish, some carved in relief with traces of paint. The Germans destroyed the rest, and there has been vandalism since.
6.SURVEYED COORDINATES. The map point on this listing is the cemetery itself, measured on the ground by the ESJF survey — not a town centre. Where a kever is inside an ohel it will still need finding once you are through the gate, but the gate is now something you can navigate to.

1855–1926. Son of the Avnei Nezer and a grandson of the Kotzker; his Shem MiShmuel runs to nine volumes and is among the most learned chassidishe works on the parsha and the moadim. He was niftar in Otwock and brought to Sochaczew, into his father's ohel. Sources give the day as both 22 and 24 Teves.
