Chortkiv — Kever of Rabbi Dovid Moshe of Chortkov
Jewish cemeteries, Chortkiv, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine — no source found states which ground holds him
- The town of Reb Dovid Moshe Friedman, founder of the Chortkov chassidus and the fifth son of the Ruzhiner. He led here; where he lies is not established below.
- NO SOURCE FOUND SAYS WHERE HE IS BURIED. Reb Dovid Moshe established his court at Chortkov after 1869 and was niftar on Hoshana Rabbah 1903. Every source consulted gives the date and stops; none names a cemetery, a ground or an ohel. The town is certain and the kever is not, and this page will not close that gap by guessing.
- The kloyz he built in Chortkiv still stands and is documented. If you are going for him at all, that building is the one thing in the town certainly his.
- THREE GROUNDS, AND THIS LISTING WILL NOT CHOOSE BETWEEN THEM. They are the old cemetery at 49.01677, 25.79165 and two newer ones — on Pulyuya street at 49.01768, 25.78225 and on Stepana Bandery at 49.00789, 25.80117. ESJF surveyed each of them, and no source found says which one holds the kever this page is about. No single map point is published; ask locally, and take the coordinates with you.
