Góra Kalwaria (Ger) Jewish Cemetery — Ohel of the Alter Rebbes

ul. Kalwaryjska, Góra Kalwaria, Poland (~1.6 km west of the town center)

  • The ohel of the Chidushei HaRim and the Sfas Emes stands at the end of the path beyond the gate (installed 1984). ~1.6 km west of the town center off Kalwaryjska St.
  • ~25 km south of Warsaw; by train (Warszawa Zachodnia → Góra Kalwaria, ~50 min, hourly) or bus 742 from Metro Kabaty.
  • A Hasidic pilgrimage site, busiest on the two rebbes' yahrzeits (23 Adar and 5 Shevat). Little signage remains — consider a heritage guide.
  • Two of the Gerrer rebbes are in the ohel here — the Chidushei HaRim and the Sfas Emes. The Imrei Emes is NOT: he left Poland before the churban and is buried in Yerushalayim. People come to Ger looking for him.
