Piotrków Trybunalski — Ohel of Reb Chaim Dovid Bernhard
Jewish cemetery, ul. Spacerowa, Piotrków Trybunalski, Łódź Voivodeship, Poland — no house number is published here; confirm the gate on the ground
- The ohel stands and the cemetery around it survives — laid out in 1791-92 on ul. Spacerowa, it is a large surviving Jewish cemetery with matzeivos still readable in Hebrew, Polish, German and Russian.
- The gate is normally kept locked and the key is held by a caretaker family living on the grounds, so getting in depends on someone being there — arrange the visit in advance rather than turning up and hoping. We are not publishing visiting hours, because we could not stand behind any set of hours; do not plan the day around a posted time.
- Three other tzaddikim have ohalim here — Meir Menachem Finkler of Radoszyce, Yissachar Dov Ber HaKohen Tornheim of Wolbórz and Menachem Moshe Waltfried of Ropsza-Przedbórz — so confirm on the ground which ohel you are standing at before you daven.
- TWO GROUNDS, AND THIS LISTING WILL NOT CHOOSE BETWEEN THEM. ESJF surveyed both — the old cemetery at 51.40962, 19.70222 and the newer one at 51.4194561, 19.6990442, about 1.1 kilometres apart. No source found says which of them holds the kever this page is about, so no single map point is published. Ask locally before setting out, and take both coordinates with you.
