The first Skverer Rebbe
Who he was
1812–1885. Born in Chernobyl, a son of Reb Mordechai Twersky the Chernobyler Maggid; he founded the Skver chassidus in 1837 and led it from this town, where he was niftar and buried. The chassidus is centred today in New Square, New York. Sources give his yahrzeit as both 27 Iyar and 17 Nissan.
