More than twenty thousand murdered in 1768
Killed on 5–7 Tammuz 1768 by Gonta's Haidamaks, who offered them their lives to convert and were refused. They are buried in this ground, and Rebbe Nachman asked to be buried among them — he had passed through Uman and said of it, this is a good place to be buried.
